The Naturforschende Gesellschaft Mecklenburg e.V. (NGM) would like to draw attention to the diversity of eggs in nature. In this exhibition numerous eggs of native birds can be seen, from the little bearded tit to the gray goose.
In addition, there are the eggs of the three largest birds in the world: ostrich, nandu and emu. But not only birds lay eggs. This is vividly illustrated by an absolute rarity from the realm of insects. Eggs of other animals and much more can be seen in some showcases. Another highlight is the fossilized egg of a hadrosaurus, which lived on our earth 120 million years ago. "Stone eggs" look like eggs, but they are not. They were formed that way in whirlpools by melting glacial water during the Ice Age. An extensive collection of these stone eggs will be on display. Not quite biological, but no less interesting is a collection of about 200 different egg cups, some of them historical.
