„Oans, zwoa, gsuffa!“ True to the Bavarian battle cry, we’re celebrating the Hamburger Gay Wiesn in the most beautiful city in the world – a touch of Bavaria mixed with a dash of queerness.

Starting at 4 PM, we invite you to the Hofbräuhaus at Speersort, where at 5 PM sharp, it will be time to declare: “O’zapft is.”

With lively après-ski music and a complimentary 0.5L stein of beer, we’ll party as hard as the lederhosen can handle! Even the shyest Hamburger lad will get into the swing of things – guaranteed!

50 liters of free beer await those with the best traditional outfits and the hottest calves. Whether hairy or smooth: the key is firmness. Bottom line: Dressing up is worth it.

Wiese, Wiesen, Wies’n or Wiesn?

Admittedly, for us Hanseatics, navigating this event without verbal missteps can be tricky. So here are a few tips: Bavarian for beginners.

First and foremost, a Münchner (Munich native) goes to the “Wiesn” – not to the “Wiese” (meadow) and definitely not to the “Wiesen” (meadows). And forget about the apostrophe (“Wies’n”) – that’s not a thing. It’s actually – drumroll, please – the Bavarian singular. Officially, the site is called the Theresienwiese.

At the Wiesn, the Homo sapiens drinks a Maß (with a “ß”). So no Maas, Maaß, Mass, or anything else – all wrong, nonsense, or just plain silly. A Maß is feminine in German and has a short “a” sound, because it rhymes with Fass (barrel). Any questions?
